I mentioned in my last entry that I've started writing fanfic. I'm currently working on my biggest challenge yet: a multi-chapter slowburn. It's already twice as long as anything else I've written so far, and I still have quite a ways to go. I'm so glad I started writing. I wish I'd done it sooner. I would actually really like to write something original at some point, perhaps when Love in the Air releases me from the chokehold it has on my interest, lol.
Posting here makes me really miss the way fandom used to be. K-pop screwed fandom culture as a whole, but really it's just a whole thing about the nature of social media, younger generations having their education ruined so media literacy is in the toilet, purity culture, etc etc. The only place where I really interact with people fannishly is twitter, but I have a hard time relating to fandom behavior. I don't care about trending hashtags on a dying site, and fandom entitlement finds new and creative ways to manifest all the time. So I've made a smallish group of like-minded friends and it's not the same as how things used to be, but it's nice.
I'm so behind on my reading goal for the year. Someone on tumblr piqued my interest in the Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb so I started the Farseer trilogy and I am really enjoying them, but they are so LONG and tend to have a pretty slow pace, so I feel like they're taking me forever to read. Other books I've enjoyed recently were The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, The Sunshine Court by Nora Sakavic, The Emperor and the Endless Palace by Justinian Huang, The Woods All Black by Lee Mandelo, and the first two books of the Dark Rise trilogy.
Alrighty, away with me!
