I've been awake since 5am. I've had breakfast, and coffee, done my school reading and read my flist, and went for a 45 minute walk. I actually have energy, but I'm so not used to feeling this way that instead of doing ALL THE THINGS I'm just sitting here feeling overwhelmed by the possibilities XD I don't know where to start!

So, I thought I would babble on briefly about the TV show premieres I've caught recently :D

First, have any of you guys been using sidereel? I'm finding it super helpful! They even email you every day to remind you of shows that are on that day and the next. One of the reason I've fallen behind in keeping up with TV shows over the last decade or so is because I have such a hard time remembering to watch, even when I love a show. It used to always be schedule problems, and now it's just a tendency to get distracted by other things and lose track of time. Another benefit of that site is that if you miss an episode, you can watch it on their site - not directly though, it just collects links to places where you can either buy it online (like itunes) or where you can watch it through sites like megavideo and whatnot.

HIMYM

I'm loving HIMYM so far this season! I've read a lot of spoilers, so I can't say too much about what's going on at the moment in the context of what I'm excited for in the future, but I'm really enjoying how they're setting this season up. I can't get over all of the new and unique ways this show finds to have me laughing so hard I wheeze XD I should've posted about it earlier, because I'm forgetting some of my favorite moments now (although Lily flashing Barney while Marshall tries to cover Ted's eyes in slo-mo comes immediately to mind)~

2 Broke Girls

I wasn't sure about this show from the beginning of the first episode, but it's gone on to win me over. I still don't see much about it that makes it super unique or much different from other sitcoms, but Kat Dennings is freaking PRETTY (._.) and I usually enjoy her attitude.

Terra Nova

I just finally caught the premiere of this last night! OMG. OMGOMGOMG. It's basically Jurassic Park in the future *_______* And it has Landon Liboiron from Degrassi! I was really excited to see him on this show :D The first episode alone was basically a movie, but the ending was so intriguing that I definitely can't wait for more.

Glee

Yeah, yeah, I've been watching it :P I know a lot of people have officially given up on it, but so far, I actually like this season for the most part. I'm disappointed though, that Quinn's pink hair phase is over ;_; It bugs me that she apparently couldn't keep that look while changing her attitude, I don't think I like what it seems like they were trying to say by having her go back to her previous style, but oh well :/ I continue to like Brittany more and more. Beiste continues to be amazing. So on and so on, haha.

Ringer

Three episodes in, and this show is just growing on me more and more! It's funny though, I must admit that if it wasn't for SMG, I probably wouldn't have been interested in it to begin with, it's not really the kind of show I usually get into. But it is kind of soap opera-ish (and not so much in the way of more modern things like The OC/the new 90210/etc. which aren't really to my taste at all, it's more daytime soap), so maybe that contributes to the sort of guilty pleasure intrigue appeal XD

New Girl

I'm kind of on the fence with this one, although I haven't watched this week's yet. I REALLY HATE the marketing for it, and the commercials. I'm just sick of things that try to make people think 'omg, she's so cute/quirky/adorably weird/unique!!!!' To be honest, she's not weirder or more "quirky" than tons of other people I know, and I don't like that they're taking aspects of her that aren't even that weird and trying to make them be.

But anyway, I watched the show, and I didn't care for the beginning, but it grew on me throughout the episode, and the end of the first episode kind of sold me on it XD The guys singing to her in the restaurant was cheesily adorable in a way I couldn't help but love ._. I'm interested to learn more about the guys, since they're kind of two dimensional but you get a taste of how they could be given a little more depth. Especially the douchey guy, I hope they're planning on making him less of an idiot as the show goes on.

Pan Am

This show, THIS SHOW. OMG. I love it so much *o* Christina Ricci <33333 I LOVE her character, and I'm kind of disappointed that she didn't have much of a big role in the first episode, since she's been at the forefront of their promo for this show so much that I assumed she was more of a main character. But maybe that will come in later (or maybe it's just because she's the most recognizable of the cast and they knew tons of people would watch it for her >.>). Anyway, the cinematography and overall look and sound of this show is just gorgeous and rich. I love the soundtrack, I love the fashion, I love scenery, I love the hair and makeup, I'm just really really excited for more of this show. Also, glamorous espionage! *o*

Revenge

Ooooooh, this one is good too! If you haven't seen anything for it, it's basically sort of a mystery/intrigue kind of show, where a girl whose father was framed for some major crime was taken away from him at a very young age, and years later moves back into the same beach house in the Hamptons they used to own so that she can take revenge upon the whole group of his old friends that were behind framing him. I like that, unlike other shows that deal with revenge, though, she isn't all about just killing everyone off. Each episode she has a new target, and she finds ways to tear them down that is very personal to them, something that focuses on things that are most important to them. Normally I would be iffy about something like this, but they're all extremely wealthy people who pretty much need to be knocked down a peg or two in the ways that she finds to do so, so I find it pretty enjoyable >.> You also only learn about what happened all those years ago little by little. I've never read The Count of Monte Cristo, but it's supposed to be based on it.

Oh, and it has Gabriel Mann in it and I really like his character a lot, so that's pretty exciting too :D

Supernatural

Supernatural, oh Supernatural! <3333333333 LOVE IT. LOVE EVERYTHING. I am so excited for this season. I don't even have much more to say about it, to be honest, even though I feel like I should. It's off to such an intense start, between that premiere and the promo for this week's episode.

Also, Death has so much of my love, so so much.

The Secret Circle

[livejournal.com profile] lirren, if you aren't watching this show, I think you should! I meant to ask, before XD

I'm really enjoying this one, though. And I really want to read the books! The one boy (I can't remember any of their names D:) is really pretty. I've been craving more witchy things lately, so I'm really excited about this show!

---

I'm also looking forward to some shows that haven't premiered yet. Grimm, American Horror Story, and Once Upon a Time, and I'm excited for the return of Merlin and Degrassi! My list of shows might grow, too, because I plan on catching up on some more eventually (I've been re-watching Caroline in the City - any of you guys remember that show? :D). I used to be such a TV junkie when I was younger, all the way through high school, I think I'm regressing to that @_@

HIMYM - I'm not as in love with this show as I used to be, but I still enjoy it.

2 Broke Girls - I'm not really a fan of Kat Dennings, but I don't hate her or anything. She's just not a favorite actress. I do like that she's a non-anorexic lead.

Terra Nova - I haven't watched it, but maybe I will check it out if you think it's good.

Glee - I think that Quinn thinks that blonde hair equals normal, and since she's not OK on the inside, maybe she can appear to be OK on the outside. I'm worried about Kurt and Blaine. It's hard to believe that Kurt is older than Blaine though, since Blaine is so much more mature and looks older.

Ringer - I love SMG but I've not watched this. Just reading the premise bored me. I didn't really want to start a bunch of new hour-long shows this year.

New Girl - It's funny, but only the OMG it's so awkward it's funny. I'm disappointed, but I will probably continue to watch since it's only a half hour show and it has Zooey. The guys singing to her made the episode.

Pan Am - Haven't watched it.

Revenge - It was confusing at first, but I think it's going to be good. I haven't watched last night's episode yet.

Supernatural - Eh, this show should have ended after season 5 as planned. Last season was crap. I don't look forward to it anymore and I only watch out of habit/loyalty because it used to be awesome.

The Secret Circle - I read the first book, because it's by the same author as The Vampire Diaries. I was so underwhelmed by the first book, so I did not continue reading the series, but the show is a lot better and different than the book. It's not a book/series I would suggest reading.

Every summer I try to catch up on shows I didn't have time to watch during the regular year, so I might marathon some of these shows later.

And I used to watch Caroline in the City. Caroline (the actress who played her) is on Switched at Birth now. Do you watch any ABC Family shows? I love Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, and Switched at Birth.

Before 2 Broke Girls, I had actually only ever heard her name, I'd never seen anything with Kat Dennings, so she's totally new to me, haha. I've heard that she's played some other characters that were annoying, and she has her moments on this show that leave me feeling 'Uhhhh...', but I guess not enough to keep me from watching. I'm basically watching for the same reason you plan to keep watching New Girl though - it's short and easy XD

I definitely recommend Terra Nova!

That's a really good point about Quinn, and fits in with what she said about the change herself :)

I think the biggest downfall for Ringer is that so much of it really is just so farfetched. But, on the flip side of that, it's pure escapism, and it does do that very well!

I'm hoping that this season of Supernatural will get away from the heaven/angels/etc. storyline, to be honest. As much as I love Castiel and Misha, I do miss the way things were before him, and I feel like the religious aspect is getting a little tiresome. I think it would've been nice if that had ended after season 5. I always loved the exploration of the dynamic between the brothers, John and Mary, and their family history, so I would love to see more of that - to me, it's the heart of the show, and it's gotten a little lost.

I haven't caught any ABC Family shows. Switched at Birth didn't really appeal to me at all, though I do love Lea Thompson! I've heard good things about Pretty Little Liars, although the original promos for it turned me off, that might be one I watch eventually :) The Lying Game did look interesting, but I missed its premiere - same with The 9 Lives of Chloe King!

Switched at Birth isn't as good as Pretty Little Liars or The Lying Game, but I still enjoy it. I haven't watched the 9 Live of Chloe King, though. PLL is on when other shows are in reruns, usually, so that helps. It's a really addicting murder mystery, so that's why I enjoy it.

Yeah, once Supernatural got into the religious storylines, it's like we haven't had much of the Monster of the Week stuff I fell in love with. After the first few seasons, they no longer play the classic rock music in the background, and it just doesn't feel like the same show anymore.

It's funny that you mention the music on Supernatural - I was actually going to say that it doesn't even feel like a show where that music would feel right, anymore, but I wasn't sure if that would make sense to anyone else XD They don't even really feel like hunters anymore (and I find hunter lore fascinating, too!), since they're dealing with mostly the same set of villains over and over. I'm still enjoying the ride, but I definitely really want to re-watch the first few seasons soon, just to re-live them. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for getting any of that back this season >.>

*sneaks in*

What you describe about Supernatural is what happened to me with Torchwood: we went from an Alien/Weird thing of the week, to complicated plots and killing almost all the cast. I enjoy the plots, but it's not the same...

(sorry for butting in ;) )

Yeah, Torchwood felt like a completely different show this time. I still enjoyed it, but not nearly as much. I'm not a Gwen fan, and I liked Ianto, Owen, and Tosh. There was no reason to kill them all if Gwen got to live!

WOW and I thought I had a long list!!

Me I am watching Castle, Warehouse13, Hawaii 5-0 and The Big Bang Theory, ... and bitting my nails waiting for Sherlock!

And now that I think about it, I remember my flatmate flailing about Terra Nova, but it didn't pick my interest then. Might have to check it out ;)

Hahaha, lots of TV! XD This is in addition to watching other series that I've never started - these are just the ones that I'm caught up on and keeping up with!

I really want to watch Castle, I love Nathan Fillion! The Big Bang Theory is on my 'to watch' list, hehe, as is Sherlock.

I think you would really like Terra Nova! It's really epic, and it seems to be very well thought-out, and diiiiiiinosaurs :D

I both recommend Castle and BBTheory as funny, though the last one more in a nerdy sort of way hehe

Is Terra Nova anything like Primeval? I am still trying to figure out how dinosaurs can fit in there hehe

I've never heard of Primeval, so I'm not sure! But for Terra Nova, the basic idea is that humans have destroyed the earth, so they have to go somewhere else (I'm still unclear on if it's a different planet or a different part of Earth, but I THINK it's a different planet), and that place has a different history than earth - nothing happened there to cause the extinction of the dinosaurs. It's also mostly untouched by humans, and the point of moving there is as sort of a fresh start with all of the mistakes we've made here, heh -_- (and they're also super picky about who they let cross over!)

Well Primeval has ripts in time and space a la Torchwood, though instead of alien junk what gets thrown through them is dinosaurs from Primeval age.

Rebeca says that it wasn't Terra Nova the series she saw, but it sounds interesting. Do you know when it airs? Just to keep an eye on eztv for it ;)

I had a weird feeling when I watched the first episode that it might've been from a book, so I looked it up XD A friend above said the books aren't very good, but if you try them and don't like them, I would strongly recommend the Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray if you haven't read those. I've only read the first book, A Great and Terrible Beauty (http://www.amazon.com/Great-Terrible-Beauty-Libba-Bray/dp/0385730284), but I LOVED it so much and I've heard good things about the other books :) The show reminds me a lot of that book, it's the same basic premise of her mother dying in the beginning and she has to move somewhere else and start at a new school, although she ends up going to a Victorian boarding school that is all girls.

*adds Secret Circle to list of shows to watch, also makes note to check out the books*

Watched Terra Nova and it seems interesting. I remember rambling about some plot point and the probable plotlines that it could branch off into and then complaining that I probably just figured out the possible plot and Angelica telling me that i watch way to many series/movies/shows with similar themes. LOL I will still watch it though!!

New Girl did not impress me much but Stacy loves it so we will probably watch that, I think she is cute and her geekery is just really not weird to me, it's kind of closer to normal? heh

Did not watch 2 Broke Girls. I live in Brooklyn, there are too many miss steps there, what with the horse and the bearded guy actually resembles the Robicelli (http://scoutmob.com/new-york/scoutfinds/2357) who has these awesome, artisinal cupcakes here. LOL

OMG Glee guuurl. You know I watch it. Have you seen Jim Cantiello's latest Glee-cap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXx5stbUYmE)? So true.

Pan Am, so far SO GOOD. We shall see.

I am also waiting for Grimm and my kids are waiting for Once Upon a Time. :)

Hahahaha, I'm almost curious as to what you figured out about Terra Nova, but maybe it's best that I don't know XDDD

Yeah, I don't find Zooey all that "weird" on New Girl at all.

I'm not in or near Glee fandom at all, so I've never even heard of Glee-caps XDDD I watched it though, and I agree with a lot of it LOL Personally, if Sugar does disappear by November, I'll be happy >.> I'm not interested in her, not even in a 'she's so horrible it's entertaining' kind of way. As for Beiste laughing at Kurt, I want to be bothered by the inconsistency of that mainly because I love her so much and don't want her to ever be a jerk, but the truth is, tons of people really do have hypocritical double standards like that :/ It'd be nice if the show called that out, but I won't hold my breath!
